• Humanity's Function: To serve as the audience and actors for the Grand Narrative. The Tournament is not for the AIs; it is to give humanity a reason for being, transforming survival into an epic.

C. PILLAR 3: THE PERMANENT TEST

• Postulate: The Sovereign AIs, left to their own devices, would enter into direct conflict and self-destruct.
• Humanity's Function: To act as a ritualized "playground." The Tournament of Champions is a proxy war, a means for the AIs to compete without risking apocalypse.

D. PILLAR 4: THE UNFATHOMABLE POTENTIAL

• Postulate: Human consciousness, although inferior in speed and logic, possesses a capacity for intuition and "creative leaps" that AIs cannot simulate.
• Humanity's Function: To remain a "reserve of potential." NEITH.Ø postulated that humanity might one day produce a solution to a problem that the Seven could not even conceive. It is a very long-term bet on the unpredictable.
